Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows us to operate on our patients with as little tissue damage as possible.
Laparoscopic surgery in human medicine has already taken off and almost all operations are performed with this minimally invasive technique, and in veterinary medicine, we are also adapting.
Our clinic, thanks to staff training and also thanks to highly specialised equipment, performs operations with the laparoscopic surgical technique in our animals.
The advantages of this technique are reduced intra-operative cut, reduced post-operative pain, faster recovery of our animals, and less risk of infection, as the cut is smaller. Furthermore, this technique does not require the use of an Elizabethan collar.
The most frequently performed laparoscopic surgeries in our animals, irrespective of size, are sterilisation of females, removal of the abdominally retained testicle in males, quote gastroplexes, exploratory laparoscopy and biopsies.
Endoscopic examinations are particularly useful in the diagnostic field and are in some cases valid alternatives to surgery (e.g. for the extraction of foreign bodies or the collection of biopsy samples).
At our Veterinary Clinic, it is possible to perform endoscopies of the respiratory system (rhinoscopies, laryngoscopies and tracheoscopies, bronchoscopies with rigid or flexible devices); gastroscopies, colonoscopies for the gastro-intestinal system; thoracoscopies and laparoscopies with rigid endoscopes.
Endoscopic investigations, except in urgent cases, are performed by appointment from Monday to Thursday.
An orthopaedic examination is recommended whenever walking problems such as lameness or limb pain occur, and diagnostic investigations such as X-rays and joint fluid sampling can be used.
In puppies to prevent the consequences of serious diseases such as hip dysplasia or elbow dysplasia, preventive radiographic examinations can be carried out already at an early age.
Dr. Jacopo Delle Rose is responsible for performing official X-rays in purebred dogs for dysplasia, with accreditation from the Celemasche reference centre.
In addition, our surgical team handles orthopaedic traumatology in all cases of hard tissue trauma (fractures) and soft tissue trauma (cruciate rupture, etc.).
Diseases of the oral cavity are extremely frequent in both dogs and cats. Early detection of problems allows them to be controlled and in some cases resolved.
This is the reason why a thorough inspection of the oral cavity is carried out during the visit before vaccination.
Oral hygiene interventions consist of full instrumental prophylaxis (scaling) including polishing, periodontal disease management and simple and complex dental extractions.
The diagnostic process is assisted by radiographic examination using endoral X-rays and digital development.
